Performance Opportunities

More opportunities to perform.

More ways to grow.

Some dancers are ready for experiences beyond their weekly classes and annual studio showcases and recitals. En Avant offers two distinct pathways for dancers who want to challenge themselves, strengthen their performance skills, and share their dancing with others.

Performance Groups allow dancers to perform alongside a team at community events throughout the season.

Competition Team provides selected dancers with individualized solo or duet training and the experience of performing in a competitive setting.

Both pathways are grounded in quality training, age-appropriate artistry, personal growth, and representing En Avant with kindness and professionalism.

Two pathways. Different experiences. A shared purpose.

Not every dancer is looking for the same kind of challenge. Our programs are intentionally designed to offer meaningful opportunities without treating competition as the only measure of an accomplished dancer.

Performance Groups

Perform together. Connect with the community.
En Avant Performance Groups are style-based teams for dancers who love performing and want additional opportunities to take the stage beyond the winter showcase and spring recital.

Each group rehearses specialty routines in its selected style and performs at approximately two to three pre-selected community events during the season. Opportunities may include festivals, parades, holiday celebrations, and other local performances.

Current Performance Group styles may include: Jazz – Hip Hop – Tap – Contemporary

Through this experience, dancers develop:
– Confidence and performance quality
– Teamwork and stage awareness
– Experience learning and maintaining additional choreography
– Pride in representing En Avant throughout the community
– Meaningful friendships built through a shared commitment

Competition Team

Train individually. Take on a greater personal challenge.
En Avant’s Competition Team pathway is designed primarily for dancers selected for solo or duet training and competition opportunities.

A competition routine is not simply an extra dance or a special role. It is an individualized training experience that asks a dancer to take greater responsibility for practicing, applying corrections, maintaining choreography, and developing the confidence to perform independently.

Selected dancers work with an En Avant choreographer through private lessons while continuing their regular weekly technique training. Through the process, dancers develop:

– Greater independence and personal responsibility
– Individual artistry and performance quality
– Stronger practice and goal-setting habits
– Experience receiving adjudicator feedback
– Confidence performing under pressure
– Resilience, humility, and a healthy response to results

Awards can be exciting, but they are not the primary purpose of competition at En Avant. The goal is to give appropriately prepared dancers an experience that supports their technical, artistic, and personal growth.

Competition opportunities are considered individually Readiness, work ethic, training consistency, practice habits, emotional maturity, choreographer availability, and family commitment all factor into whether a solo or duet is approved. Expressing interest does not guarantee an invitation or placement.

What does it mean to represent En Avant?

En Avant team and group dancers are not defined only by tricks, flexibility, scores, or placements.

They are dancers who demonstrate:
Effort. Coachability. Consistency. Teamwork. Responsibility. Encouragement of others.

They are excited to perform, willing to practice, respectful of the learning process, and prepared to represent En Avant both inside and outside the studio.

Our dancers perform with age-appropriate music, costuming, and choreography while learning to approach both success and disappointment with maturity. That directly reflects En Avant’s stated values of wholesome dance education, community, health, creativity, friendship, and growth.
