Academy of Dance is beginning to prepare for our Formal Dance Recital which will be held
Saturday June 13th, 2015 at Stanwood High School Performing Arts Center.

Matinée 2:00pm-3:30pm
Evening Performance 6:00pm-7:30pm

- HAIR, Use only bobby pins or click type of hair pins that best match the dancer’s hair. Use as many bobby pins as needed to secure hats and hair pieces. Some Large hats may use clear elastic under the chin (per teacher directions). All dancers MUST wear their hair in a bun with no bangs, unless specified otherwise by their instructor. Hair gel, spray, and bobby pins will work on almost all hair lengths and styles. Hair scrunches or hair donuts can be used to make a fuller bun.
- Make-up should look natural. Please keep to neutrals (brown/burgundy/reds) colors
- Please do NOT bring or wear: Gum, tattoos, nail polish or jewelry unless specified by instructor
TICKETS
Tickets will be on sale at the all school Academy of Dance pictures May 12th, 13th and 14th OR at dress rehearsal the day of recital and at the door before the performance. Tickets are $13 at pictures or $15 the day of recital.
COSTUMES
**Costume payments will be collected between now, and no later then December 12th All costume orders after January require additional late order, shipping and handling fees and are ordered upon costume company’s availability.
- All Costumes are non refundable, Costumes are yours to keep and usually are distributed in April.
- All tuition must be up to date upon ordering costumes and at distribution.
- Costumes are special ordered and take several months to receive. If you are unable to participate in recital please contact Yvonne and your instructor at this time. If you order a costume and are unable to attend recital for any reason, it is parent’s responsibility to pick up costumes by April 30th
** Wear costumes only to pictures, rehearsal, recital, or when making adjustments!! Costumes should be hung in parent’s closet, usually upside down to get out wrinkles and create fluff. Please wear a cover up like an overly large button up shirt whenever coming and going in costume. Extra costumes can be hung neatly in garment bags.
Please check tight size chart on back of package for best fit. Tights can not be returned once package is opened. Please exchange for proper size among your class if needed.
Shoes
- For black patent tap shoes: Please loop black elastic through tie holes and sew ends together. Make a bow with the black ribbon and sew it to the top of the loop. (Please ask for an example if needed). **Black patent tap shoes are for levels Tots- Age 9, if a dancer is in a 9-12 year class they will need the Level 3 Tap shoes. Please speak to your instructor prior to recital.
- For Level 3 Tap Shoes– Black, Bloch, ½ inch heel (split-sole encouraged with laces)
- For Pink Ballet Slippers ties should be cut down to about 2″ and taped under for safety. If taped under please make sure they lay flat for the comfort of the dancer. Please ask for an example.
- For Hip Hop shoes, black hip hop sneakers
~ Shoes are available at Payless Shoe Store, Creative Dancewear in Bellingham or online at Discount Dance (please be sure to note dance shoe sizes are often different then street shoe size).
Videos & Pictures
- Academy of Dance holds class and individual pictures May 12th, 13th, and 14th. It is important for all dancers to attend even if not ordering photos. **Copy of Picture Schedule 2015**
